Hullo! wishing you a happy weekend. I am here with a video on chapter five of my fiction, ‘Ripples Roping Memories’.
Nuns and priests of other convents provide sanctified doses of morality. Such sessions are known as treats. Topics about sin, love, affection and motherhood are illustrated from daily life. On the left side of the gate is a small open ground. One has to climb three to four steps to reach there. Assembly is held on this ground. Students keep their school bags on a slightly elevated place. The principal stands under the mango tree and conducts the assembly. The assembly begins with the prayer, ‘Our father who art in heaven…..’ The prayer reverberates in the environment. National anthem, pledge, thought for the day and news are a regular feature of the assembly. Some instructions are given. Students stand in the afternoon sun for the assembly. Rani swoons in one of those assemblies. She is not able to bear the scorching heat of the sun. She is taken to the sick room where sisters take care of her. Sisters give her some milk and wafers and ask her to take rest. After the assembly, students go to their respective classrooms.
Teachers are devoted to their work. Rani can understand some of the topics taught in the class but most part of the understanding takes place at home. She designs her time table. Rani is a stutterer. She keeps quiet in school. Teachers are impressed by her. Teachers tell the students in the class, ‘ Look! Rani is as quiet as a mouse. Can’t you all be like her?’ Rani is not taken up by this adulation because she knows why she keeps quiet. Rani does most of her homework in school during free time. In the sixth grade, Rani fails in two subjects. She was a rank holder in the previous school. She determines to capture her lost position. Her parents do not criticize her or pressurize her to work hard. Time table helps her to inculcate discipline. She allots an hour for each subject. She takes a subject like geography. She reads the chapter and attempts to understand the meaning by explaining it to herself. Rani does not have access to media and the internet is unknown. She studies the world maps. She draws maps on the house wall with the help of chalks or slate pencils. She looks into the maps given in the text book. She imagines the places having geographical conditions as described in the text book. She memorizes line after line. First three sentences are repeated three times and recollected three times. After finishing the first three sentences, the next three sentences are repeated three times and recollected three time in the similar way. Then the first three sentences and the next three sentences are combined. The six sentences are repeated three times and recollected three times in the similar way. The whole paragraph is completed. Eventually, Rani recollects the whole paragraph, a page, a chapter without mistake. Rani becomes a rank holder in the school.
This much for this video. I shall come again with another video next time. Till then goodbye!
